There it was… that big, open, underwhelming wall space staring back at me every time I entered and exited my home. I knew I wanted some form of an inspired farmhouse wood sign to accompany my previous wall decor (specifically the “Heaven” sign that has been in my family for years). However, I also knew I wanted the sign to be both simplistic and unique, but also to tie in elements of my pre-existing stain and woodwork. After many failed attempts to find what I was looking for, I finally decided to make my own farmhouse wood signs and I couldn’t be more happy that I did!<\/p>\n

Here is How I made My Own Farmhouse Wood Signs<\/h4>\n

My project began with a solid piece of raw wood<\/a>\"\". (Boards available here<\/a>\"\"\u00a0and here<\/a>\"\".)\u00a0After a little sanding, I decided to stain the sides (exact stain\u00a0here<\/a>\"\"). While the stain didn’t match my ceiling beams and half-wall cap perfectly, I decided to embrace this by avoiding an overall “matchy-matchy” feel. I then painted the top of my wood board an off-white (exact paint here<\/a>\"\"), determined what saying I wanted to display, and began to freehand paint the lettering (finishing touches completed with this paint pen here<\/a>\"\")!<\/p>\n

I loved the way the farmhouse wood signs not only quickly finished off my wall space, but also allowed for a personalized feature. This led to my desire to create even more farmhouse wood signs and before I knew it, I had a collection!<\/p>\n

This collection led to me taking the next exciting leap in my Simply September<\/em> adventure! After a number of very kind readers inquired about the ability to purchase final products when they weren’t in the mood\/able to craft them themselves (Despite loving crafting, this is definitely something I can relate to as there often just isn’t enough time in the day to craft it all.), I decided to make this a possibility and open my own Etsy shop that goes by the name, “SimplySeptemberShop<\/a>“.<\/p>\n

From now on, a large number of Simply September<\/em>\u00a0posts will not only provide creativity inspiration, tutorials and DIY tips and tricks as it has previously… but you will now also be able to view the items directly in my shop if you desire to purchase them for yourself!<\/p>\n

Specifically, I am now designing and selling creative, fun, and comfortable clothing for women and children.
