I LOVE this story! Thank you so much for sharing! Your mom sounds like such a gem :). I also love your 2 list columns... I do that in theory with my lists but never break them down into specific columns. I am 100% starting this. Thanks so much!

I'm a grandma now but I remember feeling resentful when #1 child stopped taking a morning nap! That had been my craft time! She had colic, screamed 6 hours a day no matter WHAT I did (and I tried every colic cure anyone mentioned). Talk about feeling inadequate! #2 child never slept through the night till he was 18 months old and wasn't consistently dry at night till age 8! Fortunately, my mom lived next door and baby sat when I went back to work; I'd come home, kids'd be bathed and the laundry was in off the line! Today, at 65, I still make lists--2 columns-- SHOULDS and WANNAS. The world does not fall off its axis because the kitchen floor is dirty (the only time it was CLEAN was when babies were crawling!). I'm a much nicer person to be around if I have been able to create--a silk flower arrangement, a doll dress, a new recipe, I work on both lists and sometimes multi-task; today I called a friend while I worked on a dementia scrapbook for a church organization. Oftentimes, the washer, dishwasher, and oven are all going at once! Works for me!

Thank you! I very much agree with you. Most often "me time" would equal to-do list tasks. However, most times this doesn't fuel us up quite as much as TRUE "me-time".

I can so relate to this. Love the idea of making a list of "me time" activities. Lately when I carve out me time I end up doing laundry.

Thank you so much! This is so true and I should have added that to my post. Sometimes just being able to have time to cross something off your to-do list is equally therapeutic!

Great post! That's awesome that your husband and you BOTH understand the need for "me" time and make sure you are each getting it when you can. I think this is important for anyone - moms or not - because a lot of us tend to run ourselves ragged and are stressed all the time. You have to find time to decompress.
